ASEAN leaders express concern about nuclear threat from North Korea

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – The rising tensions in the Korean Peninsula, with the accompanying nuclear stand-off, is causing concern for the members of the Association of South East Asian Nations.

ASEAN leaders have condemned North Korea’s plan to develop weapons of mass destruction.

The organization appealed to North Korea to follow the provisions of the resolution issued by the United Nation Security Council.

In a draft joint statement, the ASEAN Plus Three members consisting of the Republic of Korea, Japan and China urge the North Korea to “stop provocative and threatening actions, thereby creating conditions conducive for dialogue.”
