Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the upcoming summit between russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will focus on setting new levels of bilateral ties and charting its future direction.
The embassy of the Russian Federation in the Philippines said that Zakharova, in a media briefing in Moscow on May 12, stated that the event will sum up the results of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN over the past two decades.
According to the Russian spokesperson, the summit will also establish new dimensions of bilateral ties in areas of security, renewable energy resources, agriculture, tourism, and education.
The summit, which will be held in Sochi, Russia on May 19-20, commemorates the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN-Russia dialogue partnership.
It will be held under the slogan “Russia-ASEAN: Towards strategic partnership for the sake of the common good.” (Eagle News)
