ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh says, ASEAN member states implement key policies and programs consistent with the ASEAN post 2015 Health Development Agenda (2016 – 2020), raising awareness on nutrition security in ASEAN.
The successful completion and launching of the regional report on Nutrition Security Volume 2 further expanded the first volume to include evidence-based nutrition actions that tackle malnutrition.
The regional report on Nutrition Security Volume 2 provides a number of recommendations that ASEAN member states are currently undertaking with the support from UNICEF and World Health Organization.
These include, among others, strengthening nutrition-related policies or frameworks; prioritizing nutrition targets in the global direction such as SDGS; prioritizing strengthen health systems and promoting universal health coverage; strengthening a comprehensive approach in capacity building of relevant stakeholders; promoting community empowerment and behavior changes and strengthening monitoring systems.
Volume 1 presented a compilation of data on food and nutrition security among ASEAN member states.
