(Eagle News) — Seven people were killed and several others were injured after a truck plowed through a roadside eatery and parked vehicles in Taal, Batangas on Wednesday.
Cheche Aninio, Susan Hombre, Melencio Atienza, Jennifer Atienza and Babylyn Atienza, and two others who have yet to be identified were killed in the incident that took place past 5 a.m.
Many of the fatalities were reportedly having a meal in the eatery at that time.
Based on initial investigation, the brakes of the 10-wheeler truck carrying sugar canes failed at that time.
The driver has surrendered to the authorities.
