(Eagle News) — At least seven members of the Aegis Juris fraternity who attended Wednesday’s Senate hearing refused to submit DNA samples and be subjected to a test that would determine if they were present in the fraternity library where the hazing rites that led to the death of Horacio Castillo III took place.
As such, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian concluded that Arvin Balag, Oliver Onofre, Ralph Trangia, Joshua Macabili, Bongget Rogelio, Ranie Santiago and Mhin Wei Chan were present during the rites held in the structure at the corner of Laong Laan and Navarra Streets in Manila on Sept. 17.
Earlier, John Paul Solano said he saw at least six fraternity members when he arrived to give first aid to Castillo: Balag, Axle Hipe, Onofre, Mark Ventura, one Dan and one Zack, who were later identified as Zack Abulencia and Daniel Ragos.
Jason Robiños, Jose Miguel Salamat, Zimon Padro and Aeron Salientes agreed during the hearing to give DNA samples to the authorities.
Manila Police District director Senior Supt. Joel Coronel earlier said Castillo’s DNA was found in the fraternity library.
