(Eagle News)–Australian nun Patricia Fox on Monday, July 23, appealed the Bureau of Immigration order to deport her.
In a 25-page motion for reconsideration, Fox said the basis of the order was “purely speculative as it is merely based on an unsubstantiated report of a certain intel agent Melody Penelope Gonzales.”
Without directly admitting she participated in rallies as claimed by the BI, she said participation in such was “not illegal but a valid exercise of her right to free speech and peaceful assembly, guaranteed and protected by the 1987 Constitution and International Law.”
She said these “alleged political activities” were “consistent with her mission by which her missionary visa was granted to her in the first place.”
Last week, the BI upheld its earlier decision to deport Fox, saying she violated the terms of her missionary visa when she participated in the “partisan political activities.”
