Australian nun Fox appeals BI order affirming forfeiture of her visa

(Eagle News)–Australian nun Patricia Fox on Friday, May 25, appealed the Bureau of Immigration order that affirmed the forfeiture of her missionary visa.

Fox filed the appeal before the Department of Justice even if the BI said she only had one day to leave the Philippines following the issuance of the order.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said, however, that Fox could still file an appeal in the justice department.

In its May order, the BI affirmed its April 19 order directing the forfeiture of Fox’s visa for her alleged participation in activities beyond Quezon City, the place where she said she would conduct her missionary work.

The BI said, however, that Fox could still return to the country as a tourist pending resolution of a separate deportation case against her.

President Rodrigo Duterte said it was he who ordered Fox investigated.

He said while Filipinos had unlimited freedom of expression, this did not apply to foreigners.
