(Eagle News) — Authorities on Monday arrested Puerto Princesa Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III, after they seized high-powered firearms and suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride during a raid in his house.
The police said authorities recovered 30 sachets containing suspected methampethamine hydrochloride wrapped in a plastic pack, and weapons consisting of a .22-caliber rifle, three rifle grenades, a fragmentation grenade, and four .45-cal. pistols, from Marcaida’s house in Barangay Bancao-Bancao.
The drug raid led by the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency around 6 a.m. was by virtue of a search warrant issued by Hon. Reynaldo Alhambra, Executive Judge of Manila.
Marcaida had been identified as a “high-value target” by the Philippine National Police.
