According to the special monitoring committee of the National Intelligence Board, the whole of Zamboanga peninsula, including Zamboanga City, is placed under threat-level 3 due to the possibility of attacks from terrorist groups like the Abu Sayyaf and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters during the holiday season.
