(Eagle News) — Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has ordered the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to issue guidelines for the “processing and deployment of domestic workers” to Kuwait.
Bello’s directive was contained in Administrative Order No. 254-A issued on Thursday, May 17.
The order was issued on the same day Bello announced the total lifting of the ban on the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers to the Gulf state, following the signing of a memorandum of agreement on the protection of OFWs by both the Philippines and the Middle Eastern country.
The signing came following strained relations between both countries after a controversial rescue of OFWs by Philippine embassy officials in Kuwait.
Kuwait expelled Philippine Ambassador Renato Villa and recalled its Manila representative following the incident.
