(Eagle News) — ACTS OFW Party List representative Aniceto “John” Bertiz III has already returned his airport access ID to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

A staffmember of Bertiz brought his ID to the MIAA.

It was returned voluntarily, according to MIAA, even if the airport authority did not seek its return.

Bertiz has been confined in a hospital since Tuesday, Oct. 2, after suffering from chest pains, according to fellow lawmaker, House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez.

This was after the controversial viral video showing him refusing to remove his shoes during a routine security airport check, and even castigating a security airport personnel while showing his ID pass. He later confronted the employee again and removed the personnel’s ID.

The incident happened on Saturday, September 28 at the NAIA Terminal 2 domestic departure area.

Bertiz later apologized, but said he was only irked because several foreigners were allegedly allowed to pass without undergoing the security check.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said an access ID is usually given to Philippine National Police officers, members of the diplomatic corps, lawmakers, senators, and those who provide security to the President.

Monreal said he had not asked Bertiz to return his airport access ID.
