KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Feb 28 (PIA) – An official of the Bureau of Fire Protection here urged the public to have their electrical house wirings checked to prevent fire incidents.
Koronadal City Fire Marshall Sr. Inspector Reginald Legaste advised homeowners to call in a licensed electrician to check the electrical wirings especially in old houses and those made from light materials.
“We have barangay electricians assigned in respective areas. It’s high time for them to check if house wirings are still in good condition considering there is a rise in loop requirements and increase in use of electrical appliances,” Legaste said.
According to Legaste, faulty electrics is the most dangerous cause of fires as these are easily overlooked and don’t occur suddenly.
The official also encouraged public to do away with burning of garbage as it may cause grass fire and other fire incidents.
The Bureau of Fire Protection – Koronadal City will kick off this year’s Fire Prevention Month activities with a “Unity Walk” event set at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow.
This will be participated by firefighters, fire volunteers, and employees of the city government, government agencies and business establishments.

March signals the start of the summer season wherein temperatures rise up thus becoming extremely favorable to fire incidents. (ORVRivera-PIA12)
