(Eagle News) — The Bureau of Immigration has ordered the deportation of Australian nun Patricia Fox.
In its 10-page order issued on Thursday, July 19, the BI said Fox, an “undersirable alien,” violated the limitations and conditions of her missionary visa, and should be deported to Australia.
In making the conclusion, the BI said her “active participation” in rallies, fact-finding missions and conferences was “evidently beyond the ‘nature’ of authorized duties and responsibilities for which she was assigned as a missionary worker.”
The BI ordered the inclusion of her name in the agency’s blacklist, which means she is barred from re-entering the Philippines.
The order was recommended by lawyer Marcela P. Malaluan of the Board of Special Inquiry.
It was concurred with by the BSI’s hearing officer Romaine G. Pascual and acting BSI chief Gregorio G. Sadiasa, and approved by the Board of Commissioners led by BI Chief Jaime Morente.
The board’s members are Marc Red Marinas and J. Tobias Javier.
Fox’s camp said they would appeal the order.
The BI order came after Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra granted Fox’s petition for review of the case.
