EVENDALE, OHIO, United States (Reuters) – Dramatic video from a body camera on an Ohio police officer caught the moment a homicide suspect was shot last week along Interstate 75 near Cincinnati.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office released the video to Reuters, which appears to show the entire encounter in which Glendale Police patrol officer Joshua Hilling shot a man investigators identified as Javier Pablo Aleman, 46.

The 13-minute video shot from Hilling’s point of view shows Hilling questioning why Aleman is walking on the interstate and asking him to submit to a pat down body search. As the men approach Hilling’s car, the video shows Aleman brandishing a knife and Hilling’s hands holding a gun in front of him.

Aleman can be heard at times saying “kill me” as one shot is fired. Hilling can then be heard calling for backup and yelling for Aleman to stay down.

Aleman can be seen walking toward the officer, saying, “I’m going to kill you”.

Aleman was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition, and Hilling was uninjured.

Investigators said Aleman was wanted on a warrant from Baltimore County, Maryland, for a 2016 homicide.

A warrant from Baltimore County, Maryland, lists Aleman as a suspect in the March 17 stabbing death of his landlord in Maryland.
