(Eagle News)—-Special Assistant to the President Bong Go called recent reports by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism as “false news guised as investigative reports,” saying he has never been involved in corruption.
“I have protected my name over the years. If anyone can prove that I spoke with (Department of Public Works and Highways) or any other agency involved in the funding of these projects, I will resign immediately,” he said in a statement.
Go was referring to the projects PCIJ said his relatives, through their construction companies CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders and Supply–cornered after partnering with bigger firms.
According to Go, in the first place, his father and brother had the right to bid for the DPWH projects as well.
He said he ‘”never intervened nor influenced the DPWH on how they bid or award these projects.”
“My office does not control DPWH to begin with,” he said, noting that the PCIJ reports “suspiciously surfaced around the same time when some groups had clamored for my Senate bid.”
The PCIJ had said that based on its research, CLTG Builders, which bears the initials of Go, was awarded P4.6 billion worth of projects from the DPWH in the past ten years.
None of them, however, was awarded to the firm by the Davao government.
