LAOAG CITY, December 3 (PIA) – At least 126 residents from Ilocos Norte were already hired by the Expert Global Solutions (EGS) since it started its operations in Laoag City in September 2013.
Crystal Kate Jondonero, the EGS’ recruitment assistant, said of the 126 Ilocano employed at EGS–Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), 115 are now working as call center agents while 11 are now serving as administrative or support staff.
“Our recruitment activities are continuing, given the need of the company for many workers,” Jondonero said.
She added only call center agent positions are processed during job fairs or Special Recruitment Activities (SRAs), while the rest of vacancies are handled by an executive search/recruitment agency.
Meanwhile, Grace Ursua, Department of Labor and Employment director in the Ilocos, lauded the employment platform of Governor Imee Marcos.
She said Marcos’ policies and thrusts have created an environment for local investments that create jobs for applicants in Ilocos Norte and its nearby provinces.
“EGS has already put up its provincial site in Ilocos Norte, and I am confident that other big BPO companies will follow. This is good news to its locals because they can already have jobs and stay within familiar grounds,” Ursua said.
The EGS offers at least 600 jobs for call center agents and management personnel for interested residents in the Ilocos. (MCA/Freddie G. Lazaro, PIA-1 Ilocos Norte)
