BEIJING, China (Reuters) – Britain’s Prince Andrew held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday (April 5) during a visit to China.

The former naval officer and younger brother of current heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles, shook hands with Xi, before the two sides sat down to talks.

During the meeting Xi reportedly told Andrew he had fond memories of his state visit to the UK in October 2015. Andrew reportedly said the Queen had asked him to pass on her regards.

Prince Andrew met President Xi several times during the Chinese President’s UK trip.

During the visit Xi Jinping was feted by the royal family and leading politicians attempting to cement Britain’s lucrative place as China’s closest friend in the West.

Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, stayed at Buckingham Palace as guests of the Queen.
