QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Bureau of Immigration has deported 47 South Korean nationals wanted for various crimes in South Korea.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said that this is the first mass deportation done by the bureau.
The fees for the flight of the South Korean fugitives were shouldered by the South Korean government.
The mass deportation of the Koreans took place last Thursday.
Immigration commissioner Morente said the Koreans were turned over to Korean police authorities upon their arrival at the international airport in Incheon.
He said 45 of the Koreans left on board a Jeju Air flight from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Two Koreans, who were arrested in Cebu, departed from Mactan.
