(Eagle News) — Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero on Wednesday breezed through the powerful Commission on Appointments hearing his ad interim appointment as Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff.
No member of the CA opposed the CA’s committee on national defense’s appointment endorsement of Guerrero, even with the seasoned military official slated to retire on December 17.
On this day, Guerrero is expected to reach the mandatory age of retirement, or 56.
The then-Eastern Mindanao Command head was appointed at the helm of the AFP by President Rodrigo Duterte on Oct. 26, the day his predecessor, General Eduardo Año, also reached the mandatory age of retirement.
