(Eagle News) — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has launched an investigation into the incident that saw a Xiamen Air plane skidding off a Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway, resulting in flight cancellations for several days.
According to CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio, Xiamen Airlines officials and the plane’s crew members will face the Aircraft Investigation and Inquiry Board, who will aim to determine the reason why flight number MF8667 overshot the 06/24 runway, and to determine if Xiamen Air has to be held liable.
He said the results of the probe would also help them create policies and protocols to address these kinds of incidents if a similar situation happened.
Xiamen Air flight MF8667 was piloted by a 58-year-old Korean with a 28-year-old Chinese as co-pilot.
