QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – Caloocan police arrested more than 100 persons, including minors, on Thursday night, September 8, under Oplan Rody in different parts of Caloocan City.
Police arrested the 100 persons who violated various city ordinances such as drinking liquor or alcoholic beverages in public, wearing no shirts in public areas.
Many of those arrested claimed they did not know about the curfew hours.
There were 27 minors arrested because they allegedly violated the city’s curfew hours ordinance.
Their parents or guardians were called by the police.
The minors were later allowed to go home after the police advised their parents.
Police Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo, chief of the Caloocan police, said they were doing this to let the residents of Caloocan feel that the police are sincere in implementing the various city ordinances.
“Hangga’t may nakikita tayong nag-iinom sa kalsada, hangga’t may nakikita tayong nakahubad sa kalsada, hangga’t may nakikita tayong mga batang naglalakad sa mga kalsada mula alas-10 ng gabi hanggang alas-4 ng madaling araw, mga batang edad 18 pababa, hindi natin ititigil itong simultaneous police operations,” he said.
The police also warned the parents and guardians of the teenagers that they will already face charges if their children would again be caught violating the curfew ordinance.
The police likewise warned those drinking liquors or alcoholic drinks in the streets that they would also be charged if they would be caught for a second time.
