Airstrike in Iraq

The French military conducted airstrikes against  the Islamic State militants in Iraq. Two French military jets bomb a depot and a military base used by the ISIS as a fort. More than 20 Islamic militants were said to have been killed in the said airstrike.

UN Peacekeepers

The 84 Filipino peacekeepers that were part of the 7th Philippine contingent in the Golan Heights have returned to the country. AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Pio Catapang Jr., met the peacekeepers as they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. AFP is planning to give medals and promotions to the peacekeepers, particularly those who were involved at the fighting in Position 68 in the Golan Heights.

About 60,000 Syrian Kurds flee to Turkey from Islamic State advance

French jets strike in Iraq, expanding U.S.-led campaign vs Islamic State

(Reuters) – French jets struck a suspected Islamic State target inIraq for the first time on Friday, expanding a U.S.-led military campaign against militants who have seized a third of the country and also control large parts of neighboring Syria. President Francois Hollande said Rafale jets hit “a logistics depot of the terrorists” near the city of Mosul, which has been held by Islamic State for more than three months.
