Obama applauds IMF Preliminary Agreement with Ukraine

Ukraine received a lifeline from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), winning a 27 billion dollar support fund, in the wake of the Russian annexation of Crimea.  The IMF announced a 14 to 18 billion dollar standby credit for Kiev in return for tough economic reforms.  The United States Congress also passed legislation on Thursday backing a one billion dollar loan guarantee for Ukraine. US president Barack Obama lauded the announcement.

Indicted For Gun-Running, California State Senator Ends Secretary Of State Campaign

  (Reuters) –A prominent state senator withdrew from a race for California secretary of state on Thursday (March 27), a day after he was arrested by FBI agents and charged with corruption and conspiring to import and traffic firearms, his attorney said. California senator charged with corruption and gun smuggling

A senator in California was arrested for gun smuggling for his activities the United States and the Philippines. The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Democratic State Senator Leland Yee.  He was also charged with corruption and conspiring to import and traffic firearms.
