Department of Agriculture to give financial aid to farmers affected by “Vinta”

(Eagle News) — The Department of Agriculture (DA) will give financial aid to more than 20, 000 farmers affected by “Vinta.” Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said that insurance payments amount to Php 182 million. Farmers in the Zamboanga peninsula and northern Mindanao will benefit from this. “The SURE Program which stands for Survival and Recovery, grants a P25,000 loan package to farming and fisherfolk families affected by calamities,” Piñol said.

The DOH said in a statement that 70 of the 86 victims recorded so far from December 21 to 31 were aged less than 15. This translates to 81 percent.
