Court suspends work due to heavy rains

Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio suspends work in courts under the red rainfall alert. This includes the Regional Trial Courts in Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan. Work is also suspended in the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Sandiganbayan and the Court of Tax Appeals.

Marikina river water level breaches 19 meters; forced evacuation now in place

  MANILA, Philippines – The city government of Marikina is now enforcing “forced evacuation” of residents near the Marikina River which has already breached 19 meters as of 8 a.m., It had been declared under  Alert Level 4 after it reached the critical level of 18 meters as  early as 6:42 a.m. Continuous heavy rains are expected until this afternoon, according to PAGASA, which means the water level in Marikina river would continue to rise.  […]

“Red” rainfall warning raised over Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan

7:52 a.m. MANILA, Philippines (ENS) — Tropical Storm “Mario” continued to dump heavy rains in the whole of Luzon, prompting the country’s weather bureau to declare a “red warning” over Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan, and an “orange warning” for Laguna. “No classes” in all levels declared in NCR, 15 Luzon provinces – Deped

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education has declared  that there will be “no classes” in all school levels in Metro Manila and 15 provinces in Luzon. There will be no classes in the following areas: Zambales Bataan Pampanga Tarlac Nueva Ecija Bulacan Rizal Province Cavite Province Laguna Quezon, including Polilo Island Batangas Mindoro provinces Camarines Norte Marinduque Pangasinan National Capital Region  

VP Binay says corruption charges againts him will not stand in court

VP Binay decried the accusations of corruptions against him and his family, saying that these are merely recycled accusations that come out every election. Binay vehemently denied that the Makati City building two was overpriced, as alleged in the senate blue ribbon sub-committee, and stressed that his accusers and detractors used wrong data. He said the charges against him will not stand in a court of law mainly because his accusers failed to give evidence. […]

“Mario” becomes stronger

“Mario” gains strength and speed. According to PAGASA, “Mario” was last spotted 670 km east of Catarman, northern Samar. The storm has 55kph winds and is mowing northwest at the speed of 28kph. Eastern Visayas, Caraga and some parts of Mindanao will experience rain. If the storm does not change direction, there’s a possibility that “Mario” will not be making a landfall and instead will head to southern Japan.
