3.5-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur early Saturday

(Eagle News)–A 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Saturday, Nov. 7. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 1:36 a.m., had its epicenter 42 kilometers southeast of Bayabas. It had a depth of 15 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

(Eagle News)–Seven volcanic earthquakes were monitored at Kanlaon in 24 hours. 5.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte early Thursday

(Eagle News)–A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit Surigao del Norte early Thursday, Nov. 5. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck at 2:27 a.m. Its epicenter was 10 kilometers southeast of Burgos. PHIVOLCS said the earthquake had a depth of 28 kilometers, and was tectonic in origin. Instrumental intensity II was recorded in Surigao City. No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were expected.  

Customs bureau turns over seized, forfeited storage devices, others to Optical Media Board for disposal

(Eagle News)–The Bureau of Customs has turned over seized and forfeited storage devices and video tapes, among other items, to the Optical Media Board for disposal. The bureau said the 30 boxes of video tapes, 2,400  One Time Password devices, sim cards and blank bank cards were given to the OMB on October 29. (Eagle News)–A thunderstorm advisory has been raised over parts of Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over portions of Bukidnon and Siargao Island. 4.4-magnitude quake strikes off Batanes early Wednesday

(Eagle News)–A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes early Wednesday, Nov. 4. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:59 a.m. It had its epicenter 14 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, and a depth of 105 kilometers. It was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Northeasterly surface windflow affects N. Luzon

(Eagle News)–The northeasterly surface windflow is affecting Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the  disturbance was apart from Tropical Storm “Siony,” which has prompted the lifting of Signal No. 1 over Cagayan and the Babuyan Islands. (Eagle News)–A 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Zamboanga del Norte today, Nov. 2. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 2:29 p.m., had its epicenter 86 kilometers northwest of Labason. It had a depth of 32 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.
