Lopez town in Quezon province flooded after heavy rains

(Eagle News) — The town of Lopez in Quezon province experienced severe flooding because of heavy rains, including those brought by storm Pepito. In this video report by Eagle News correspondent Yael Salvador, floods can be seen even in the streets. Many residents were evacuated by the local government. Social distancing and other health protocols were maintained in the evacuation centers amid the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. (Eagle News Service)

Customs bureau intercepts P2 million worth of smuggled used clothes in CDO

(Eagle News)–The Bureau of Customs has intercepted P2 million worth of smuggled used clothes in the port of Cagayan de Oro. A memorandum issued by Executive Judge Maria Angelica Paras-Quiambao said the physical closure, which starts today, Oct. 21, was after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 based on a swab test. 4.4-magnitude quake hits Eastern Samar

(Eagle News)–A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Eastern Samar on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 5:03 a.m., had its epicenter 62 kilometers southeast of Homonhon Island. It had a depth of 15 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
