4.1-magnitude quake hits Masbate

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Masbate on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 12:22 p.m., had its epicenter 7 kilometers southeast of Cataingan. It had a depth of one kilometer. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Rainfall advisory raised over parts of Northern Luzon

(Eagle News) — A rainfall advisory has been hoisted over parts of Northern Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected over Cagayan (Allacapan, Lasam and Lallo) and Isabela (Maconacon and San Pablo).     (Eagle News) – A magnitude 5 quake shook Davao del Sur early Monday, Aug. 31, which was felt at various intensities in surrounding areas, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported. (Eagle News)–A rainfall advisory has been hoisted over parts of Pangasinan. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said light to  moderate rains are being experienced over Bugallon, Lingayen, Binmaley, Umingan, Infanta and Anda due to the southwest monsoon. (Eagle News)–A 3.8-magnitude earthquake hit Masbate early Sunday, Aug. 30. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 12:04 a.m., had its epicenter 14 kilometers southeast of Cataingan. It had a depth of 22 kilometers. The earthquake was tectonic in origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

Customs bureau: P64.4 million worth of misdeclared cigarettes seized in Batangas

(Eagle News)–The Bureau of Customs has intercepted P64.4 million worth of misdeclared cigarettes in Batangas. In a statement, the bureau said the 1631 cigarette cases, which had been declared as plastic cabinets, were contained in a 2×40 container that arrived in the port on Aug. 20. DOTr: Over 160,000 OFWs have returned to provinces under gov’t’s Hatid-Tulong program

(Eagle News)–Over 160,000 Overseas Filipino Workers have returned to their respective provinces under the government’s Hatid-Tulong program. The Department of Transportation said the 165,862 OFWs assisted by the government were as of Aug. 27. (Eagle News)–A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Cagayan early Saturday, Aug. 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:57 a.m., had its epicenter 43 kilometers southwest of Calayan. It had a depth of eight kilometers.
