4.1-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:43 a.m, had its epicenter 442 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It depth was 85 kilometers, and it was of tectonic origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Victoria, Laguna mayor tests positive for COVID-19

(Eagle News) — Victoria, Laguna Mayor Frankie Almeda has tested positive for COVID-19. In a Facebook video posted on Aug. 2, Almeda said this was based on results of a test he took on Thursday afternoon. “Ginawa ko naman po lahat ng protocol, lahat ng pag-iingat..nagkasakit at nahawa ako,” he said. PHIVOLCS: 20 volcanic quakes monitored at Taal in 24 hours, alert level 1 still raised

(Eagle News) — Twenty volcanic earthquakes were monitored at Taal within 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Sunday, Aug. 23. According to PHIVOLCS, weak steaming  rising five meters was also observed from the vents on the main crater of the volcano, which remains on alert level 1. Mauban, Quezon mayor tests positive for COVID-19

(Eagle News)–The mayor of Mauban, Quezon has tested positive for COVID-19. Mayor Marita Llamas made the announcement on social media on Saturday, Aug. 22, after receiving the results of  her RT-PCR test. 3.6-magnitude quake hits Masbate

(Eagle News)–A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Masbate today. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:28 a.m., was an aftershock of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake in Cataingan on Aug. 18. Sunday’s quake had its epicenter 9 kilometers northeast of Cataingan, and a depth of 16 kilometers. It was of tectonic origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

DOTr activates three ports as crew change hubs for seafarers

PAL to operate more flights to Pagadian starting Aug. 25

(Eagle News)–Philippine Airlines is adding weekly flights to  Pagadian to accommodate more passengers. PAL said starting Aug. 25, two more flights will be added weekly, or every Wednesday and Saturday.
