The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:43 a.m, had its epicenter 442 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It depth was 85 kilometers, and it was of tectonic origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

(Eagle News) — Twenty volcanic earthquakes were monitored at Taal within 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said on Sunday, Aug. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:28 a.m., was an aftershock of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake in Cataingan on Aug. 18. Sunday’s quake had its epicenter 9 kilometers northeast of Cataingan, and a depth of 16 kilometers. It was of tectonic origin. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
