Rains expected in parts of Luzon today

In its recent update, the  Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the rains were due to the southwest monsoon  being enhanced by  Tropical Storm “Mekkhala,” formerly “Ferdie,” which is located 480 kilometers northwest of Basco, outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility. 4.0-magnitude quake hits Masbate early Tuesday

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake hit Masbate early Tuesday, Aug. 11. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 4:43 a.m., had its epicenter 10 kilometers northeast of Cataingan. It had a depth of 71 kilometers. An instrumental Intensity I was reported in Naval, Biliran. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Immigration bureau: American national wanted for assault in California to be deported

(Eagle News)–Authorities will deport an American national wanted for assault and possession of a deadly weapon in California,  the Bureau of Immigration said on Monday, Aug. 10. According to the bureau, 45-year-old Peter Alex Drier, who was arrested last Aug. 5 in Barangay Dayap Itaas, Laurel, Batangas, will also be included in the immigration blacklist. (Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Isabela early Monday, Aug. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck at 1:52 a.m. It had its epicenter 117 kilometers northeast of Divilacan. No damage to property nor aftershocks were expected.

DOTr: LRT-1 Cavite extension expected to be partially operational in 2021
