4.6-magnitude quake hits Zamboanga del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Zamboanga del Norte on Monday, June 15. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 6:29 a.m., had its epicenter 39 kilometers northwest of Siocon. It had a depth of 25 kilometers. The following intensity and instrumental intensity were recorded: Intensity: Intensity IV – Zamboanga City Instrumental Intensity: Intensity III – Zamboanga City No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.    

3.9-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Norte

(Eagle News)–A 3.9-magnitude quake hit Surigao del Norte early Sunday, June 14. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 3:14 a.m., had its epicenter 26 kilometers northeast of Burgos. It had a depth of 11 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Taal update: 6 quakes, weak steaming monitored; volcano still on alert level 1

(Eagle News)–Six earthquakes and weak steaming were monitored at Taal in the last 24 hours. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the  earthquakes at the volcano, which remains on alert level 1, were “associated mainly with rock-fracturing processes beneath and around the edifice.” The weak  steaming was observed from fissure vents along the Daang Kastila trail. BOC: 1.5 tons of illegally imported meds, beauty products destroyed

(Eagle News)–The government has destroyed 1.5 tons of illegally imported beauty products and medicines, the Bureau of Customs said over the weekend. According to the BOC, Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport seized the products on June 11 in Trece Martires, Cavite also for not having the necessary permits and clearances from the Food and Drug Administration. (Eagle News)–A 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Oriental on Saturday, June 13. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 10:10 a.m., had its epicenter 182 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso. It had a depth of 79 kilometers. The following instrumental intensity was recorded: Intensity I – Malungon, Sarangangi No damage to property was recorded but aftershocks were.

Lapu-Lapu city mayor tests positive for COVID-19

(Eagle News)–The Lapu-Lapu City mayor has tested positive for COVID-19. Mayor Junard Chan made the revelation himself in a Facebook post in Cebuano. (Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental today. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 4:23 a.m., had its epicenter 149 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It had a depth of 109 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

3.7-magnitude quake hits Batanes

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Batanes on Thursday, June 11. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 5:40 a.m., had its epicenter 68 kilometers southeast of Basco. It had a depth of 3 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

BOC seizes P24.8 million worth of illegally imported cigarettes at Davao port

Total COVID-19 cases in Cebu City close to 3,000 as more than 100 new cases added daily since June 7
