Taal update: 5 quakes, weak steaming monitored; alert level 1 still raised

(Eagle News)–Five quakes were monitored at Taal within a 24-hour period, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. According to PHIVOLCS, the quakes were  associated mainly with rock-fracturing processes beneath and around the edifice. PHIVOLCS: 5.6-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental today, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. According to PHIVOLCS, the quake, which hit at 9:06 p.m., had its epicenter 211 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It had a depth of 68 kilometers. The following instrumental intensities were recorded: Instrumental Intensities: Intensity I – Alabel, Malungon and Kiamba, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato No damage to property were recorded, but aftershocks were.

3.7-magnitude quake hits Batangas

(Eagle News)–A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck Batangas today, May 29. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which hit at 8:30 a.m., had its epicenter 10 kilometers southwest of San Luis. It had a depth of three kilometers. The following intensities and instrumental intensities were reported: Intensity: Intensity II – Taal, Batangas Instrumental Intensities: Intensity I – Calatagan, Batangas; Tagaytay City No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.

Cloudy skies, isolated rainshowers expected today

(Eagle News)–Cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers are expected in parts of the country today. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said  partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands in particular. DOLE forms task groups to expedite return of OFWs to their homes

(Eagle News) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has formed task groups to facilitate the speedy return of overseas Filipino workers from quarantine facilities to their respective residences.
