Soldier nabbed in Cebu for alleged gun-running activities

(Eagle News)–Authorities arrested a soldier in Cebu City on Friday, Dec  10, for alleged gun-running activities. According to the Philippine National Police, Staff Sergeant Cristobal “Chris” Pantoja was nabbed in an operation against loose firearms in the Kamagong Range Parking Area. 3.6-magnitude earthquake strikes off Batangas early Saturday, Dec. 11

(Eagle News) — A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Batangas early Saturday, Dec. 11. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 12:36 a.m. It had its epicenter 25 kilometers southwest of Nasugbu. The depth of focus was 55 kilometers. The following intensity was reported: Intensity I – Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Tagaytay City No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.  

PCG rescues two people off El Nido, Palawan after small plane crashes

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Coast Guard has rescued two people off the waters of El Nido, Palawan after their plane crashed. According to the PCG, the passengers of RPC979, a Cessna owned by Aerohub, were taken to the Coast Guard Station El Nido following the incident on December 10. (Eagle News) — A 46-year-old man is facing raps after he fired a gun indiscriminately, killing a one-year-old child in Negros Occidental, the Philippine National Police said. (Eagle News) — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Norte on Thursday, Dec. 9. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 8:18 a.m. It had its epicenter 30 kilometers northeast of Burgos. The depth of focus was eight kilometers. PNP orders probe into killing of town councilor

Strong quake strikes Davao Occidental waters

(Eagle News) — A strong earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Sunday, Dec. 5. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the 6.1-magnitude  quake struck at 7:48 a.m. PHIVOLCS earlier said the earthquake was at a 6.5 magnitude. According to PHIVOLCS, the epicenter was 291 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. The depth of focus was 166 kilometers. No damage to property was expected but aftershocks were.

Customs bureau: P6 million worth of smuggled red onions seized in CDO

According to the bureau, the red onions that had come from China had been declared as margarine instead.
