5.3-magnitude quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News) — A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Sunday, Oct. 24. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 7:08 a.m. It had its epicenter 75 kilometers northeast of Lingig. The depth of focus was 19 kilometers. The earthquake was of tectonic origin. No damage to property was expected but aftershocks are.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 1:19 p.m. It had its epicenter 67 kilometers northeast of Tinaga Island. Immigration bureau: Over 9,000 Filipinos arrived in PHL through Subic airport since July reopening

La Union declares “state of calamity” due to damage from storm “Maring”
