Retired Ozamiz prosecutor shot dead

(Eagle News) — A retired Ozamiz prosecutor was shot dead on Tuesday, May 22. Geronimo S. Marabe, Jr. was driving his car  in Barangay 50th District in Ozamiz City when he was shot by at least four men around 10:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead in the hospital. Albayalde: Hapilon aide nabbed in Sulu

(Eagle News)– A trusted aide of slain Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon has been arrested by police. Philippine National Police chief Dir. Gen. Oscar D. Albayalde said Hashim Abtaid was nabbed in Jolo, Sulu around 7 p.m. Abtaid was implicated in the kidnapping workers of Golden Harvest plantation in Barangay Tairan, Tam-Awan, Basilan in 2001. He is also facing other cases such as serious illegal detention.

NCRPO to deploy around 20,000 policemen to secure barangay, SK elections 

(Eagle News) – The National Capital Region Police Office will deploy around 20,000 policemen for the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. According to NCRPO Chief Director Camilo Cascolan, 16,000 will be deployed in polling stations and precincts throughout Metro Manila, while 4,000 from the district mobile force will be on patrol. According to Cascolan, his instructions were to be always alert, and to respond immediately should there be any incident.
