Cavite governor mulls declaration of state of calamity in province because of floods

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said that he may declare the province under a state of calamity as many areas in the province suffer from severe flooding.

In an interview with Net 25’s, Radyo Agila, Remulla also said that a bridge in Silang, Cavite has collapsed and there were landslides in the area.

“In General Trias, Imus at Bacoor ay marami ng lugar na nabaha. Meron din kaming mga tulay na nagcollapse sa Silang, sa Barangay Kalubkob at meron ding mga landslide sa Silang,” Remulla said.

Remulla said that the cause of severe flooding in Cavite province was due to developments and that drainages were blocked and covered.

“Ang cause nitong maraming baha [ay dahil} walang ng malabasan ng tubig dahil sa mga naging development for the past 20 years na kung saan yung mga dating creek ay natakpan at lumiit. Kaya we are paying the price now,” the Cavite governor said.
