(Eagle News)–Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano lashed back at the United States on Saturday, April 21, following a report by the US State Department that human rights continue to be a major concern in the Philippines.
“We do not need others who think they know better than us Filipinos to tell us what to do. As a sovereign nation, the Philippines deserves the same kind of respect we have been extending to our friends in the international community,” Cayetano said in a statement.
In the first place, Cayetano said the Philippine government “remain(s) guided by the rule of law.”
