China’s state councillor Yang Jiechi met U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Beijing on Monday (July 25).
Yang and Rice shook hands before sitting down for talks at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
Both sides said they would like to deepen cooperation between China and the United States, and looked forward to the G20 summit in Hangzhou this September.
Rice is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later in the day before heading to Shanghai.
