Chinese send 400 hand-held radios for Philippine government media

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) – China has begun to deliver on its commitment to help improve Philippine government-owned media, including PTV-4, and all the media agencies of the government.
The Chinese government sent 400 hand-held radios through its Ambassador Zhao Jianhua, who also invited 30 representatives including cameramen, editors, writers, and reporters from government and private media organizations to an advanced media communications training program in China in June 2017.
This was revealed during a press conference today (Feb. 28) by Presidential Communications Office Secretary, Martin Andanar with the Chinese Ambassador at the Malacañang Palace.
The hand-held radios were turned over to the Philippine government media in a ceremony.
Andanar and Ambassador Zhao also discussed the installation of communication transmitters in the Philippines. China will also enhance their “all expense paid scholarship program” for Filipino students who dream to become part of the Philippine media.
Secretary Andanar was also invited by Ambassador Zhao to visit China in April this year.
“PCOO will focus on the improvement of government media in delivering trusted and reliable news to the Filipino nation,” Andanar said.
President Rodrigo Duterte on the other hand, met with Minister Song Tao of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) on February 20 at the Malacañang Palace to conduct foreign relations with the Philippines.
Since the founding of IDCPC on 1951, it has continuously expanded its international exchanges and communications in over 140 countries.
