Claims of MH370 wreckage in Tawi tawi dismissed

Philippine authorities have ruled out suggestions that plane wreckage reportedly found on an island in the south of the country is of missing Malaysia airlines plane MH370.

Captain Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, the commander of Naval Task Force 61, said they have deployed a gunboat in Sugbay Island in Tawi Tawi following reports that a teenager has found aircraft wreckage, with the Malaysian flag painted on its side, somewhere in the area.

However, he said that the people living in the area for the longest time and even the fishermen whom they have interviewed said they have no knowledge about it.

Also, a senior police official assigned in the area said that there had been no reports of any aircraft crashing on any of their islands.

He said if any aircraft had “gone down in the area there would have been alerts from civil aviation authorities”.
