MANILA, Aug. 22 – “We will outdo what we did in 2016.” Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista said during the briefing on Pulse Asia’s survey on the conduct of the 2016 National and Local elections by civil society group, Democracy Watch.
The survey showed that 63 percent of respondents believed that the 2016 elections was more credible and efficient than previous polls, which the Chairman believed can be partly attributed to the fast trasmission of election results.
“ Kapag nagtatagal kasi ang bilangan , doon nagkakaroon ng duda. So we asked the Telcos to prioritize the election data, binantayan namin yan. We also deployed more BGAN units to areas with poor signal.” Chairman Bautista added.
The 2016 elections had a voter turn-out of 81 percent which was the highest in years, and an electronic transmission rate of more than 96 percent. “ The survey validates the results of the elections but we are not saying that it was perfect. We will continually learn. We will not stop at 9 out of 10. We want it to be 10 out of 10.” The Comelec Chairman further stated. (Comelec)
