QUEZON City, Philippine – The Commission on Elections prepared several contingency measures in case of power failure on the May 9 elections. According to COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista, each vote counting machine has a battery box that can provide power for 14 hours. The COMELEC also has several generator sets on stand-by. On the other hand, the Department of Energy and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines assured the public that there is ample supply of electricity during the May 9 elections.
