Congress passes bill on national ID on second reading

QUEZON City, Philippines, May 8 (Eagle News) – Congress passed on second reading the proposed national identification system law. Under said bill, there will be only one government-issued ID which will be used in all  transactions with the government.

This will feature some basic information about the card holder.

Under the proposed law, those who will give wrong information in their IDs will be fined P500,000 and will be jailed for six months to a maximum of two years.

If the violator is a public official, he will also be disqualified from holding any public office.
