QUEZON City, Philippines – Congress spent almost P1 billion (or P929.4 million to be exact) for consultancy services last year.
This was based on data submitted by Congress to the Commission on Audit. At least 3,150 consultants were hired by Congress in 2015.
According to COA, the expenses of Congress for consultancy services last year were 55% higher compared to 2014.
But COA said that it does not have any negative findings regarding this increase as Congress had justified the use of consultants in aid of the formulation of laws.
