(Eagle News)– Police on Thursday announced that they foiled an assassination attempt against President Rodrigo Duterte after cuffing an alleged gun smuggling group assumed to sell gun parts to the group who would kill the President.
Wilford Palma admitted being a member of the gun smuggling group, and revealed that their “number one customer” ordered gun parts before they were apprehended.
“Ang sabi sa akin ng boss ko yung number one customer namin may balak umorder ng lower end gun parts at gagamitin sa assasination ni President Duterte,” Palma said during a press conference in Camp Crame.
Palma also admitted that his group would not have reported the plan to the police if they had not been arrested.
The “number one customer”, according to Palma, ordered 100 upper receiving parts, 40 barrel, and 30 vault which are estimated to make 100 M-16 rifles.
Chief Supt Roel Obusan, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said that they will validate Palma’s statements and may consider him a witness because of his claims.
