(Eagle News) — The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court on Monday ordered the former Bureau of Corrections head who admitted to giving “millions” of drug money to Senator Leila de Lima detained at the National Bureau of Investigation.
Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero issued the order a day after Rafael Ragos surrendered to the authorities.
The former BuCor officer in charge and former NBI deputy director is a co-accused of De Lima and her alleged bagman Ronnie Dayan in the case that stems from their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trading in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa when she was justice secretary.
Last year, Ragos said during a congressional inquiry that he gave drug money amounting to P10 million to De Lima.
The amount includes P5 million which he said he personally delivered to the senator’s residence.
De Lima, who yielded to authorities on Friday, is now detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, while Dayan is holed up at the Muntinlupa Police headquarters.
The case lodged in Guerrero’s sala is only one of several drug-related cases De Lima is facing.
The others are lodged in Branches 205 and 206 of the Muntinlupa RTC.
