(Eagle News) — The crowd continued to swell at the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s (Church Of Christ) “Aid to Fight Poverty” or “Lingap Laban sa Kahirapan” at the Qurino Grandstand in Manila as police estimates the number of attendees reaching 70,000 as of 12 noon on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

The weather also improved as the rains stopped.

At the start of the event, at 7 a.m, there was a downpour which did not deter more than a thousand volunteer medical and dental personnel from giving their services to the public.

Free medical and dental services were offered at the site including medical check-ups and consultation, x-rays, ultrasound, blood tests, blood count, blood pressure check, 2D echo, pregnancy tests, blood sugar determination, and electrocardiogram (ECG).

Meanwhile, more than 700 traffic enforcers were deployed by the Metropolitan Manila Development and the Manila Traffic Bureau to help ease traffic in Manila because pf the road closures and rerouting implemented by the MMDA.

According to MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia, at least 457 MMDA enforcers were deployed around Rizal Park to guide and aid affected motorists. About 200 traffic enforcers, on the other hand, were provided by the Manila Traffic Bureau to support the MMDA enforcers.

Thousands of SCAN international volunteers are also in the venue to help in the cleanliness and orderliness of the INC activity.
