Davao Mayor Duterte slams Speaker Alvarez over supposed “opposition” tag, impeachment comment

(Eagle News) — Davao Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday slammed Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez after he supposedly called her part of the opposition, and emphasized that he could impeach a President.

“Ano sabi mo in a crowd, ‘President iba siya, Speaker ako, I can always impeach him!” And you call me opposition? Somebody should really tell the President about the truth,” she said in a Twitter post.

She added: “Kung as*h*le ka sa Congress, don’t bring it to Davao, leave it in Manila.”

“How dare you call me part of the opposition. Kapal ng mukha mo. You messed with the wrong girl,” the Davao mayor said.

Although it was unclear when Alvarez supposedly made the statements, the President’s daughter made her pronouncements against the Speaker after she and four other governors from southern Mindanao formed a regional party that they said aims to provide support for her father’s agenda.

Among the Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s officers were Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista (President), Davao del Norte Governor Antonio del Rosario (Secretary General), Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy (Treasurer), and Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang (Vice President).

Alvarez is a member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, President Rodrigo Duterte’s party.
