Dangerous Drugs Board is requesting some amendments to the comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, including the establishment of rehabilitation centers in jails.
DDB Chairman Secretary Felipe Rojas Jr. proposed 12 amendments to the existing law during a briefing of House Committee on Wednesday.
The proposal is in concern of existence and wide-scale use of illegal drugs in jail facilities.
Muntinlupa Representative Ruffy Biazon supported the concern over the issues of drugs inside NBP.
According to Rojas, there’s also a lack of rehab centers nationwide– only 50 existing.
Some regions are still without drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation centers, such as Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), MIMAROPA, Negros Island Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
