De Castro to Sereno: “In my honor, the conversation you said never happened”

(Eagle News) — Associate Justice Teresita de Castro denied she rebuked Chief Justice-on leave Maria Lourdes Sereno when the latter reached out to her after she was appointed to the top magistrate post in 2012.

During oral arguments on the quo warranto petition on Tuesday, April 10,  De Castro, turning emotional, denied ever having the conversation with Sereno in which she was alleged to have told her: “I will never forgive you for accepting the chief justice-ship.”

At this juncture, Sereno tried to interject.

“Excuse me, I am not yet done,” De Castro said.

“In my honor, the conversation you said never happened,” she added.

De Castro, a more senior justice, also applied for the Chief Justice post in 2012.
